Dear Subscribers,
As you know, I have kept this newsletter free of charge for as long as possible. I’ve thought long and hard about how to proceed. Writing Publishing Confidential is my greatest joy but also involves much work. To continue doing this, I am going to an all-paid model. Let’s review what this means:
Why go paid? Writing the newsletter takes time. I meticulously research my pieces, edit them, and strive to bring you the highest quality analysis and information from the publishing world.
When are you going all paid? Next week (the week of 6/17).
Most posts will be paid. Now and then, there will be free content.
Now that the newsletter is 15 months old, I have proven its value. I hope you feel the same way.
Cost. Monthly subscriptions are $6 and yearly subscriptions are $70. Those are fair prices.
Comps. If you cannot afford a paid subscription—send me a note at publishingconfidential@gmail.com, and we can talk about a comp subscription. I’ve done this on a case-by-case basis and will continue to do so.
Group subscription discounts are available.
To upgrade your subscription, go to the homepage for my newsletter. Click “subscribed,” which will take you to the subscription page. The upper right corner should say, “Upgrade to paid.” Click and choose a plan.
Going paid allows me to write more time so that the newsletter will be more frequent.
If you are already a paid subscriber, there is nothing you need to do.
Extras for paid subscribers: You can ask me questions about publishing every Friday, receive a link roundup on Sundays, and access the Publishing Confidential podcast within the next few months (I know I buried the lede).
What else will you get? Author interviews and Q&As with industry people. Additionally, you will receive “how to” posts instructive in publishing, PR & marketing…and much more.
I know some of you will not take this news well, but I hope you understand my position: I need revenue to do this and do it well. I fear that I will lose some of you because of this. I hope you reconsider.
As always, thank you for your support.
Kathleen
