Hello!

I hope you’re having a lovely Sunday. My son is home from college for the weekend, so I’m baking him pumpkin bread with chocolate chips to bring back to school. I’ve gotten back into a baking groove, so if you have any good recipes, drop them in the comments (Might there be a Publishing Confidential Cookie Exchange this holiday season? MAYBE.).

Before I get to the links, a reminder for paid subscribers: I’m starting “Office Hours” on the third Friday of every month, beginning with October 18th. We will spend an hour on Zoom at 1 p.m. EST, and you can ask me anything about book publishing. If you haven't upgraded your subscription, you might want to use this feature.

STUFF I READ:

Esquire’s “What I’ve Learned” column is always interesting. I especially liked Ina Garten's responses.

The Wall Street Journal finally published its fall books roundup. I wonder if any titles will surprise you. (Gift link)
