Never even look at Goodreads for book recs, but I'm persnickety anyways. This is an excellent piece and I had no idea how influential Goodreads can be for self-censoring folks.

I am wondering if such an incident has ever happened with an Amazon published book. I’m only seeing these incidents with traditional publishing houses. Am I wrong?

Seems that way. I don’t know for certain, though.

Thank you for sharing the book publishing update! It is a very informative newsletter on an important, complex topic.

As was pointed out elsewhere, her failed performance is a perfect demonstration of the failed performances of all the Old Bolsheviks when Stalinism came for them in the 1930s - decide they must be the traitors they have been accused of being, throw themselves on the "mercy" of the "revolution." She demonstrates why the people she wrote about did what they did.

Goodreads continues to demonstrate why this author pays no attention to that swamp. If there was someone there with an IQ higher than ambient room temperature, they would block reviews until publication, and then only allow reviews by people who have downloaded the book and had it for 2 weeks (long enough to actually read it). This is not hard for 16-year old IT morons to accomplish.

I hate it when an author becomes an embarassment to the rest of us.
