Allison mentioned the door is always open on Substack, so here I am gently knocking, slipping right in. I just wanted to thank you for spending part of your afternoon with me. It's so difficult to decide where to invest and how much to invest when it comes to publicity and book marketing. Listening/watching you on Writer's Bridge today has been valuable and most appreciated!
Kathleen, not relevant to this particular post, but I was impressed by your discussion today on Writer’s Bridge. Gave me food for thought as I’ve got a book that I can’t get agented and am considering self-publication. Thanks for shining a light on publication.
It's so good to read about the gifts of working in publishing. I think it's equally true in the writing community; for all the problems and challenges on this path, I've made some wonderful friendships along the way (though I never had any driving adventures on golf courses in Tennessee!)
I can't recall the joke, but I sent him a note to say I thought it was funny. We emailed for three months before we went on a date :). 18 months later, we were engaged, and we are coming up on 24 years of being married!
Great article. Love the people in publishing. I started a bit before you, but to me, the highlight of every year (no matter the craziness) was the BEA Convention (which started as the ABA). The launch parties and other events were just so much fun. Was great connecting with people throughout the industry.
Dear Kathleen, I have been trying to connect about some help getting on podcasts. But all my emails to you business box had gone unanswered. Are they all going to spam?

Thanks so much!
Well said, Karen! I attended the session today too, and I completely agree.
Thank you!

Lovely post.
Change is unsettling, but what great opportunities it presents. I think your post said exactly that.

I love that meet-cute story!! I forgot about a time email joke forwards could be anything but offensive and sent by my great uncle in west Texas 🤣

Lovely piece. The friendships are as deep as the job is intense x
Ok. How can I communicate directly, perhaps set up a 30 minutes consulting?
As my one question per week, can you tell me how to get on podcasts? Do I need a publicist for that?
I can’t. It’s highly dependent on the book, your profile, how well you speak on a topic, etc. It’s too broad a question to answer.
Can you please send me a message on Linkedin, we can connect that way. Thanks you so much.

I don’t know--I will check my spam file.
