Absolutely love The Pitt and Paradise and have been telling everyone I know (and some I don’t 🤣) to watch them. These shows are TV done beautifully, often harshly right. And of course I’m trying to talk myself into watching The Substance even though I can’t handle horror…
I’m with you on The Substance, and that mirror scene getting ready for the date made me wish there were a category for ‘best scene.’ So real. So relatable!
As for immersive, distraction TV, I recommend (highly, fabulously fictionalized) historical drama: Resurrection Ertugrul. Mandatory subtitles (unless you speak fluent Turkmen) force you to pay attention and put your phone down.
Music and production values are exceptional. Casting is beyond! It has everything: palace intrigue, politics, love, battle scenes, enviable tension writing, and costumes. 500 hours (!) about pre-Anatolian Bedouin culture. It’s available on YouTube (TRT Drama English). By far the greatest TV I’ve ever seen. EVER. Trust me!
Thanks. This was really nice, lots of ideas for stuff to watch that I'm not currently watching. My two guilty pleasures/distractions are Top Chef and old Frazier episodes. It's nice to hear that the Meghan show is good to watch.
I'm also into real estate reality TV, though weirdly I've never seen the "Selling Sunset" shows. But I've seen a lot of Bravo's "Million Dollar Listings," which also mixes glamorous homes and petty drama.
Another fun one is the Netflix series "World's Most Amazing Vacation Rentals," which offers three different kinds of Airbnb homes in the same location, varying from reasonably priced to extravagant: https://www.netflix.com/title/81060530
These are great suggestions. I'll add Vera, which we've been watching lately for the simple solace of a Northumberland accent, order coming from disorder, and Brenda Blethyn.
White Lotus is my comfort watch. High-end trash TV doesn't get better. Conclave was really good; there is a twist at the end that totally upended my expectations. I was bored a little at the beginning and thought it would be one kind of movie but it really was something very unexpected and sublime.
I cannot answer why someone needs 10 bathrooms for a 5 bedroom house, but I grew up in a house with 3 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms and there is similarly no explanation for this, either. They exist, these houses!!
I shall ask my parents but I truly have no idea why. It was helpful whenever we had holidays though; my parents came from big Catholic families so we always had 20-30 people over and the extra bathrooms helped. But yes! A mystery indeed.
We watch ALL the same shows so I have to recommend TRAITORS. It’s deliciously campy and fun. Season 3 US version — 👩🏻🍳💋
I like Matlock, Suits LA, Beyond the Gates, etc.

Yes! Honestly you can skip The Substance.

The Netflix real estate reality shows are really good. It amazes me when they get all cash offers for homes that are like $5M.
The Pitt is so good! 🤯 that Dr. Mel is Bryan Cranston’s daughter! She’s excellent.
I know I’m late to the game but I just started Younger. Obviously I love the comedic yet realistic exaggerated portrayal of publishing.
I relate most to Diana.
LOVE the Pitt. I think about it all week counting down the days to the next episode. And I’ve never watched hospital shows before
I’m also obsessed with the real estate reality tv!

Great movie reviews! Want to see Anura now. Thx.
It’s very good. Deserved Best Picture.

LOL thank you for that. I just wanna know why!
