I bought and read Careless People. It's worth the read. If I disliked Facebook's constant ads, bots, misinformation, Zuckerberg, now I find it and their C-suite level people utterly disgusting.

Would be interested if Chaos Monkeys by Antonio Garcia Martinez encountered any backlash. He wrote about Facebook infighting, and it wasn't flattering at all.

You're 100% right about aligning with the current moment. It's no wonder about Wolff's book. We're living in such chaotic times that yesterday's podcast can be today's ancient history. I don't see why any assignment editor is going to want to cover something that happened several months ago. Wolff should be grateful for whatever he gets. I doubt the flood of books we saw during the first Trump term will be repeated during the second. Everything would be too late. But that's good news for any nonfiction writer whose subject is anything other than the current regime.

I’ve also just ordered the Meta book after hearing the writer on a big news podcast here in the uk - The Newsagents. It’s going to surely make waves and I can see why meta are running scared/ angry

I've never added a book to my cart faster! If Meta doesn't want us to read it, I'm definitely going to read it.

I'm a MacMillan author and can attest to the rigor of their legal department. They micro-analyzed everything. Will def buy the book!

Of course, Meta's comms teams are messaging that it wasn't "fact-checked" which...let's be real. Interesting that they've now returned to arbitration when they said a few years ago they would no longer force employees into private arbitration, which favors the employer.

Thanks for this! I always enjoy your insights about the realities of publishing as a business. It makes sense that the Meta book would already have been thoroughly vetted, which puts Meta’s actions in an even worse light. It’s always interesting to see what happens when people try to smother information. It seems like Meta kind of helped the cat out of the bag in this situation. I know I’m even more eager to read the book now!

I went and bought a copy of Sarah Wynn Williams’ book immediately. Even if I don’t have the time to read it, I consider it a good investment. But I probably shall read it.

I don't include links to buy a book unless I am interviewing an author. My aim with pieces like this is to write about them, not sell them.
