- Boo the Dog
- Bobbi Brown
- Mario Andretti
- Cedella Marley
And oy, Aiden's GOT TO GO, but I'm not on #TeamBig either. Doing a re-watch really brought home how toxic their relationship was. I was hoping that in And Just Like That they'd be honest about that. Reflect on the good, bad, and ugly of what they went throug/he put her through.
Instead, it's been rewritten as an epic love story, and he's Saint Big.
I am a Big die-hard, so I loved them together. He had a lot to work through, but he did it when he was ready and admitted he screwed up. Aiden screwed up, too, but always put the onus on Carrir for the demise of their relationship. Her entire problem is that no matter who the guy is, she will always love Big more. He was her person.
We can agree to disagree about Big :) I will say that physically, Noth is much more my type. I like 'em tall, dark, and handsome ;)
Julianne Moore was so lovely! She sent the house a Jeni's ice cream party as a holiday gift. There was so. much. ice. cream. + toppings and scoops, and must have cost $$$
I am 100% with you on Aidan/AJLT. They really need to write out his character. He's emotionally manipulative, controlling and it's all about what's in his terms (ie his character hasn't matured at all from SATC). I suspect the writers may be showing Carrie's continued growth and empowerment in realizing how non-egalitarian their relationship is, by slowly allowing us to realize how disrespectful and immature his behaviour is (not to mention harmful toward his own kid).
I think she's lying to herself because she is scared to be alone. She married the love of her life, and she was happy. This relationship has way too much baggage, and, excuse my language, but Aiden is a shitty father. He makes it seem like he's the good guy when he just gaslights everyone. Also: WHERE IS STEVE?
Completely agreed that he is making awful parenting choices and absolutely gaslights to get his way. He is toxic and I really hope the writers make her acknowledge she's making a fear-based decision. The reference to Steve and Miranda selling the house was a throwaway line that I almost missed! I don't know whether to expect Steve to make an appearance. I also realized this week that neither Che nor Nya have returned.
Ocean Vuong is a goddam treasure. I don't even know why I bother writing, lol. And every time I hear him interviewed, I end up sobbing. The person I'm most curious about is Patrick Swayze...I read Jennifer Grey's memoir, and it opened my eyes to the misogyny she faced as a young actress.
I worked with Patrick when he was dying, so I have a completely different perspective on him. He was a wonderful person to work with, as was his wife. It wasn't easy because I had to operate as if all was okay but I knew he had very little time left. Very bittersweet.
I read the first few pages of Vuong's new book out loud to my husband (he's not a literary fiction kinda guy), and he said it sounded like poetry. Accurate considering he had two poetry books.
Can you PLEASE write that post about the psychics you've worked with?!
As someone who established herself writing literary works that included reportage/science writing, but who is now writing about spirituality/spirits, I would be fascinated to peek into this room... (and maybe need to take your author branding class as part of integrating these different parts of my identity).
I could talk about this all day. I think I have worked with three psychics and two intuitives. One psychic, Jeffrey Wands, is the best I have ever experienced. My dad passed away in 2002. Jeffrey told me 1) an inside joke I had with my dad that I had never mentioned to ANYONE. and 2) Said, "Your father wants to know if you still eat ice cream out of a wooden bowl." At that point, yes, I did. Maybe I'll write for the holiday weekend next week.
I worked at Hay House for 10 years - I could tell you some stories! I had a voicemail from Sylvia Brown saved on my phone for a decade. And I'm forever scarred from the past life regressionist who told me I died of pneumonia in my previous life and needed to watch my lungs - that will make you paranoid for life, even if you don't want to believe!
I was also Sylvia's book publicist--at Dutton! She did not like me and asked my boss to work with someone else because she said she got a bad vibe. And yes on the past lives thing, too. Apparently, I was a nun.
We could probably have a whole separate conversation about this ... but were you with her during the Shawn Hornbeck controversy? That was my first lesson in crisis PR ;)

How was Julianne Moore? I feel like she's nice.

CARRIE AND AIDAN ARE AWFUL TOGETHER. Also: didn’t he make furniture? He has no opinion on the terrible dining room table??
Oh he does. Did you watch this week's episode? The table is in it.
Oooh no I haven’t watched it yet.
Report back after you watch.
Ok that’s quite sweet. But also: still terrible together.

Wow yes, that would have been really tough ❤️ He was so young!!

How funny! My voicemail from Sylvia was scolding me for something, I don't remember what. She was a piece of work!
YES, she was. I had to accompany her to Montel Williams several times. Lordy.

Wow! Those are incredible anecdotes.
"Elton John's muffin" was not on my bingo card for this post. Lol.
I will write the story in a newsletter. It's funny.
